Bocadillo
- A traditional Spanish bocadillo, is a type of sandwich served on a baguette and filled with chorizo sausage, Serrano ham, or tuna. Unlike American sandwiches, bocadillos do not pile on mayonnaise, pickle and salad but rather slices of tomato on the bread to moisten it. In the Basque country, bocadillos are often served into pintxo or pincho, typically eaten in bars.
- Start by slicing your bread, tomatoes, and cheese, and set them aside. Heat up a cast iron griddle on low heat, or use a panini press if you have one on hand. Next, spread a layer of mustard on one side of the sandwich. Layer the ham, tomatoes, and cheese on top, adding more ham and cheese if desired. Close the sandwich and brush the outer sides with olive oil. Grill the sandwich for about 3 minutes on each side until the cheese is melted and the bread is crispy. For an extra decadent touch, you can make your sandwich taller by adding another layer of cheese and stacking one grilled sandwich on top of another. This will not only make your sandwich look impressive but also add an extra layer of gooey, cheesy goodness. Once your sandwiches are grilled to perfection, transfer them to a cutting board, cut them in half, and serve!
