To make your pain de mie / pullman sandwich bread from scratch, look up at Crunchy Croque Monsieur Recipe. These easy to make smoked salmon appetizers (Canapé au saumon fumé) are popular served during the holiday season, and an ideal year-round tray-passed catering item.

Smoked Salmon Appetizers

One pain de mie slice makes 4 bite size appetizers. Spread soften butter, carpet buttered bread with smoked salmon slices. Once done, place in the freezer for a couple of hours. Square off, and cut into 4 portions. Top canapé with some salmon roe caviar, a little piece of lemon supreme, and dill. Wrap up and keep refrigerated for up to 2 days. Serve with a glass of Champagne, or Chardonnay. Enjoy!
